Dublin, Ireland

We only had about 36 hours in Dublin, and that was not nearly enough.

We happened upon multiple Irish pubs with live dance music, ate the cuisine, and drank the Guinness. Dublin is a spirited town — you can feel the energy the moment you step off the plane. And speaking of stepping off the plane, arrival into Dublin might be the easiest of any European capital I’ve flown into. Customs and passport control were a breeze.

We spent half a day at the Teeling Irish Whiskey Distillery doing a discovery tour. Even Leigh got involved, which tells you it was a good time. The beverages are great — and I’m not just talking about the whiskey.

We also did a personalized tour with our own driver who took us out into the Irish countryside, which was well worth it to see more than just the city. Rolling green hills, stone walls, the whole picture.

Dublin is definitely a place I’d come back to. The transatlantic flights on Aer Lingus in business class are surprisingly reasonable, making it a great layover destination — whether you’ve got a couple of days or just a few hours between connections. But do yourself a favor and experience the nightlife. Thirty-six hours was a tease.
